Book Review: Wrestling with the Devil

Antonio Russo wrestled his whole life, even though didn’t find the sport until high school in Eugene, Oregon. Born in the small town of Roccarainola, Naples, Italy, Antonio was having an idilic if modest upbringing in the early 1950s. Then, at the age of 10 he was sent alone to America for a chance at a better life. The difficulty of being torn from his family, the struggles he faced during his first years in the US, finding wrestling and his success as a wrestler is told in the moving autobiography Wrestling with the Devil, written by his daughter Tonya Russo Hamilton.

Wrestling with the Devil is a great read and inspirational for any wrestler, young or old. It’s the story of perseverance, personal struggle, courage, hard work, and success, all part of the hallmark of wrestlers world-wide.  It could not be a more fitting book to read during World Wrestling Month, May, 2013. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
